About Artist

I use a fetish Bear as my logo. The legend goes, that the Bear fetish is the Guardian of the West and has the power to heal and transform human passions into true wisdom. I use the Heart Line Bear. The heart line which runs from the mouth of the bear directly through to the heart symbolizes that whatever is taken into one’s self, either from the physical or spiritual world, provides the knowledge or experience that molds the individual. What you bring into your heart, you will give back to the world.

I got into woodturning after retiring and moving to Prescott. I took art courses at Phoenix College and have a background in oil and acrylic painting, airbrush, and ceramics. In January 1994, I won “Best of Show” at the Phoenix Ceramic Art Show.

In Prescott, I attended several woodturning courses at Yavapai College. Several world-class woodturners and carvers were teaching there. I also belong to the Prescott Area Woodturners. I have expanded my craft with the help of many  giving PAW members and seminars from quest turners.

I believe that trees are a focal point in nature’s incredible beauty, but we only see the external side. As a woodturner, I enjoy showing the internal side, the grains, and the colors. I want to use internal beauty as a canvas for artistic expression.
